Value Set Foundation

Expertly curated value sets for analytics, clinical decision support, claims processing, clinical research, and more.

Clinical Architecture’s Value Set Foundation is a comprehensive library of more than 2,500 value sets that address diagnoses, medications, laboratory tests, procedures, observations, and other clinical domains. This content includes bindings to USCDI-recommended terminologies like SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm for interoperable exchange of patient data. Value sets can be used to gain insights from structured patient data to optimize patient care, improve quality measures, and streamline reimbursement and claims processing.

Value Set Foundation value sets are authored by our experienced team of clinical experts and meticulously designed and modeled with various use cases in mind. Additionally, these value sets are maintained and revised as standard terminologies are updated so you can trust that your data will always stay accurate and up to date.

More than 2,500 elements fill our comprehensive value set library.

Take advantage of Clinical Architecture’s extensive value set library that contains groupings of terms and their codes from standard and/or local vocabularies which are used to describe clinical and administrative concepts. Each of these value sets, or elements within Value Set Foundation, includes a descriptive scope with inclusion and exclusion criteria, logical definitions and expressions related to USCDI-recommended terminologies, and the resulting expansion terms.

Value Set Foundation is a comprehensive collection of clinical roll ups which can complement the aforementioned use cases. Clinical rollups contain coded concepts that share something in common. For example, a Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus value set may contain terms such as “Type 2 diabetes mellitus, uncomplicated”, “Type 2 diabetes mellitus, complicated”, “Type 2 diabetes mellitus with retinopathy” and other terms where type 2 diabetes mellitus is common to all members of that value set.

Value Set Foundation can be accessed through your Symedical software or via flat file for ease of use. Interested in learning more about how you can access Value Set Foundation? Contact us.

High quality value sets built for real-world use cases.

Clinical Architecture’s Value Set Foundation purpose-built value sets were created to solve many healthcare information technology initiatives. Our clinical content team designed a framework to serve as a guide for value set authoring and maintenance as well as an assessment tool to understand value set quality. This tool examines six different dimensions to evaluate the quality of value sets. Read the white paper, “The 6 Cs Framework for Assessing Value Set Quality,” to learn more.

Value sets for enhanced clinical workflows.

Data analysts and informatics professionals can benefit from using Value Set Foundation to serve as a source of truth for reference data from which clinical decision support logic is created. Data analysts can use these value sets instead of manually searching for relevant terminology codes. This helps them quickly find and analyze all patients with specific conditions. As a result, they can focus on deeper insights, trends, and reporting without spending time on code identification or validation.

Optimize reimbursement and claims processing with reliable value sets.

Provider organizations can use assets in Value Set Foundation to accurately and efficiently identify coding gaps in clinical documentation to optimize reimbursement. Identifying undocumented diagnoses can also aid in closing gaps in care and improving patient outcomes of patients who meet specific criteria for preventative care and screening.

Payer organizations can also use Value Set Foundation to identify “high risk” plan members, such as patients with multiple comorbidities or chronic conditions, to effectively coordinate their care management and reduce cost of care.

Quality value sets help identify patients for clinical trial enrollment.

Clinical research organizations can leverage Value Set Foundation to efficiently identify patients who meet specific cohort criteria for clinical trial recruitment and other research initiatives. Additionally, this content provides a standardized framework for organizing and analyzing clinical data across multiple research sites, ensuring consistency and accuracy in data collection.

Maximize efficiency with Value Set Foundation Value Sets.

Purpose-built, clinically curated value sets provide your healthcare organization the ability to define, capture and group relevant clinical concepts with ease and confidence. This leads to better adherence to clinical quality measures, improved reporting for value-based care initiatives, and streamlined reimbursement and claims processing. Value Set Foundation takes the manual work out of value set authoring and maintenance and allows your team to focus on gleaning insight from data and creating strategies to improve patient outcomes and organizational initiatives.
