How Post Coordination Can Improve Access to Clinical Data

Speaker: Stan Huff, Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Graphite Health

Using overly specific codes to represent patient data can make it harder to find and use that data. For example, LOINC code 8460-8 specifies a systolic blood pressure measurement taken while standing, but there are over 100 similar codes that vary by position, exercise level, and method. Searching for all systolic blood pressure readings requires checking a long list of codes. A simpler approach is to use a general code like 8480-6 for systolic blood pressure and store details separately, a method called post-coordination. Regenstrief is working to expand LOINC to support more efficient post-coordinated data storage.

Jive and Cowpaths

Speaker: Dr. John Lee, Founder of HIT Peak Advisors
Despite having the technology to vastly improve healthcare, key barriers prevent meaningful progress. Dr. Lee identifies two main challenges: the illusion of shared understanding—where we use the same language but fail to truly communicate—and our reliance on outdated processes that limit technology’s full potential. These obstacles keep innovation shackled, preventing transformative change. Join Dr. Lee as he explores what’s holding us back and how we can break free to drive real healthcare innovation.

Data Delirium? Drowning In Data, Starving for Information and Insights

Speakers: Therasa Bell, President & Cofounder of Kno2; Dr. Peter Schoch, Chief Health Officer at Kno2; Charlie Harp, CEO at Clinical Architecture
No provider ever asked for more data, they ask for more information. So, what’s the difference? It’s far more significant than one may at first think. Endless streams of data leave providers gasping for the information they need to make better, quicker decisions. These decisions impact all aspects of healthcare. Post-acute providers are drowning in data from every direction. They may have more data than ever, but they struggle to get the information they need. The truth? They don’t need more data—they need the right information, at the right time, in the right way. Join Kno2 and Clinical Architecture as we break down the madness and help providers come up for air.

Quality & Quantity: Essential Frameworks for Clinical Data Operations for Payers

Speakers: Dr. Michael S. Barr, Chief Medical Officer at Velox Health Metadata, Inc.; Michael Klotz, Founder and CEO at Velox Health Metadata, Inc.; Charlie Harp, CEO at Clinical Architecture
Changing payment models, regulations and technology are dramatically shifting the amount and richness of clinical data health plans need. To thrive in the short-term and to stay competitive and compliant in the next years, health plans need to completely retool their clinical data operations. This session introduces two standard frameworks for clinical data acquisition (sourcing and handling) and data quality. The Velox Platform and Clinical Architecture’s PIQXL Gateway, based on the principles of the PIQI Framework, are fundamental to ensuring payers are not ‘flying blind’ through this necessary and high-stakes transition to the future of clinical data operations.
