The Future of Healthcare Interoperability Requires Patient Information Quality Improvement

May 17, 2024

Charlie Harp, CEO of Clinical Architecture, spoke at the HIMSS24 annual conference about the need to improve the quality of healthcare data that is gathered and shared. He explained that measuring the quality of the data is the first step in setting out to improve it. So, he created a tool called the Patient Information Quality Improvement (PIQI) framework designed to assess various attributes of clinical data and identify areas where the information needs to be improved.

In the video below, he provides an overview of the taxonomy of the PIQI framework and discusses the categorized dimensions along with simple assessment modules that can be used to provide a measure of data quality.

If you’d like to learn more about the PIQI framework and how it can be used to improve healthcare data quality, be sure to listen to our Informonster Podcast. We’ve launched a new series titled Data Quality in Healthcare which takes a closer look into the PIQI framework.
