The University of Kentucky HealthCare system (UKHC), which includes several hospitals, clinics, and specialized health facilities, serves a diverse population from across the state. Much like in other healthcare delivery networks, UKHC understood that improving patient care requires sharing patient data with providers beyond their walls. They set out to enhance their existing integration engine to create a data sharing platform that enables new capabilities. This included the need for a terminology management system that could easily scale and provide enterprise-level functionality as demand for data sharing with external partners increased. They needed a new solution – one that delivered on their key goals of improved partner engagement and seamless information exchange outside their health system.
