Sales Engineer

Clinical Architecture is seeking a Sales Engineer in the Indianapolis area to assist the business
development teams (Sales, Product Management, Customer Service, Implementation Services) with technical sales/support activities for new and existing opportunities. The primary objective of the role is to demonstrate the Symedical product and create a smooth transition from sales to
implementation and customer support by serving as the primary pre‐sales technical resource for the product. This role must also ensure that the business development teams have the tools needed to effectively demonstrate the value of the product. Gaining a deep technical understanding of Symedical will be required to understand and validate the customer’s technical product requirements and define a strategy to optimally implement the product. Understanding the specific use cases and technical issues for each customer will be required to deliver a quality solution that aligns with their system capabilities.


  • • Work with various roles in Sales, Strategic Partner Development, Product Management,
    Development, Quality Assurance, Implementation Services, Customer Service, Clinical
    Architects, and Marketing
  • • Conduct product demonstrations (both virtual and in‐person) over the technical aspects of
    the product
  • • Participate in technical discussions with the customer to address any technical product-related
  • • Identify and document into Salesforce any technical requirements that were discovered
    during the sales process and coordinate as necessary with product team
  • • Coordinate and manage pilots/proofs of concepts, and contribute to the building artifacts and
    deliverables as needed to successfully demonstrate the ability of the product to meet the
    customer’s needs
  • • Interface with the customer service and implementation teams, articulating customer
    technical requirements/intended use of Symedical to ensure a smooth transition from sales to
    customer service
  • • Become proficient in the configuration and technical capabilities of Symedical
  • • Become knowledgeable about the editorial and runtime SOAP and RESTful web APIs
    • • Contribute sample code in C#, Java, and/or Python
    • • Work with Documentation team to ensure API documentation is clear, easy to use,
      accurate and includes industry best practice
  • • Coordinate initial client training and provide technical client training as needed over APIs,
    runtime configuration options, publish adapters, etc.
  • • Participate in answering RFP/RFI and vendor assessments from new and existing clients
  • • Provide feedback on issues with current products, obtained through customer discussions, to
    product management
  • • Manage Symedical demo environments and automated demo scripts as needed

Qualifications and Experience:  

  • • Engineering, technical degree, and sales experience preferred
  • • Ability to demonstrate strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss
    highly technical concepts to all audiences, ranging from technical and non‐technical people to
    executive level decision‐makers
  • • Strong leadership skills to own and lead all technical aspects of the sales process
  • • A technical background with proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including .NET
    Framework, SQL Server 2012 or later, Windows 10 or later, and programming languages such
    as C#, Java, or Python
  • • Familiarity with web‐based software and authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth, etc.
  • • Hands‐on experience in the areas of networking, security, and various system architectures
    and deployment capabilities (on‐premise, cloud, appliance, AWS Appstream)
  • • Familiarity with one or more interface engines such as Mirth Connect
  • • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple accounts/opportunities
  • • Self‐motivated and driven to exceed expectations

  • • Customer focused
  • • Experience with health IT, interoperability, healthcare terminology standards, HL7 messaging
    standards a major plus
  • • Experience preparing RFP and RFI responses is a plus
