Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has selected Symedical®, Clinical Architecture’s comprehensive terminology management system, as a system to support the mapping of orderable item catalogs for implementations of InOrder.

InOrder by Elsevier is an intuitive, cloud-based order set solution that enables physicians, clinical quality improvement leaders and other clinicians to author, review and manage order sets in a collaborative environment. An important step in realizing the value of any order set is the quality of its integration into the electronic workflow of physicians. Symedical’s powerful terminology management and interoperability tools enable Elsevier and our clients to efficiently and accurately implement InOrder by streamlining the process of mapping to the local medical vocabulary used at each organization.

“We are excited about this collaboration and believe our terminology management tool, coupled with Elsevier’s patient-centered approach, helps drive the advancement of healthcare,” said Charlie Harp, Chief Executive Officer, Clinical Architecture.

InOrder combines a highly efficient, easy-to-use content management, authoring and workflow solution for hospitals’ content development and technology teams, along with hundreds of evidence-based, highly intuitive order sets that can be used ‘out of the box’ or customized as needed. With Symedical, InOrder will be able to streamline the mapping to local hospital vocabularies and speed implementation of the order sets.

“InOrder by Elsevier enables the rapid translation of new clinical recommendations and quality metrics into actionable orders, and Clinical Architecture’s Symedical helps streamline the implementation of our clients,” said Dr. Jonathan Teich, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Elsevier Clinical Solutions. “This allows us to collapse the lag time between knowledgediscovery and point of care use.”
